Today's Dominion Post features an article about the SOBA action to have DB's trademark of Radler invalidated.

DB Breweries' decision to seek costs against New Zealand's largest beer consumer advocacy group, SOBA, for their application to invalidate the trademark of Radler, may see the 500 member Society of Beer Advocates shut down by the brewery.

Dominion Breweries have been awarded NZ Champion Brewery at the 2010 BrewNZ beer awards. DB also took out the European lager styles class with Monteiths Black, the NZ Draught style class with Tui, the NZ Lager and Premium Lager class with Tui Blonde and the Reduced Alcohol class with Export 33.

SOBA is pleased to announce the official launch of the 2010 National Homebrewing Competition (NHC).

This is the fourth time this event has been held, and previous years have produced some great results, including jumpstarting the international commercial brewing career of one award winning brewer.

To date 450 entries have been received for the 2010 BrewNZ Beer Awards, up from 348 entries last year.  In its ninth year and run by the Brewers Guild of New Zealand, this is a record number of entries.  The winners will be announced at the BrewNZ Awards Dinner in Wellington on Thursday 26 August.
