SOBA Summary - October 20 - 26
Hello SOBA people,
It's time for the weekly news!
SOBA is working with the team at Beer & Brewer magazine to offer a subscription service within New Zealand. Pricing is still to be finalised but our hope is that we can offer the magazine posted to you for the same cost as what you would purchase from your local newsagent. (Currently $7.95) The latest issue is due at the printers next week. To assist us with our negotiations could you please indicate if you would be interested in a subscription by emailing orders@soba.org.nz.
SOBA is now calling for volunteers to help out at various events coming up soon. There has been some discussion on the mailing list about SOBA having a presence at the many foodie-type festivals around the country. If there is a festival happening near you, and you think it would be a good opportunity to get the SOBA name out there and get some members signed up, let us know.
Speaking of events, the first of these is Brewfest 2008 at Trentham Racecourse in Wellington. Wellington members, or those who wish to offer their time staffing a SOBA booth should contact events@soba.org.nz to volunteer. We'd love to see some new faces involved!
Don't forget about the upcoming Hops and Glory event. November the 17th is getting closer and closer...
SOBA's spies in the UK report a letter from our very own committee member Ian Caig has been published in CAMRA's monthly "What's Brewing" magazine. It's entitled "Kiwi Cousins", so those of you who are also CAMRA members should keep an eye out for that in November's issue. A huge thank you to Ian for championing our cause to one of the pioneering groups in beer advocacy worldwide. Hopefully we will get some ex-pat British signups from it.
I will be away next Friday, and unable to compile the news, but will be back the following Friday. Until then...
Stay SOBA!
