Offering myself for election as a Christchurch / Sth Island rep. A bit about me...

35 yrs - married with 2 great sons. 15 yrs employed with a major Bank - the last 8 in Wellington in the IT area (very familiar with the Malthouse!) Returned 'home' to Christchurch 2 years ago for a quieter life more focussed on family. I am now self employed after establishing my own garden/landscaping/handyman business, still completing some IT contract work as & when required. I have a strong sport and community background.

I'm a mad beer freak - you may have seen my post in the Reelbeer forum on pubs/breweries to visit while I travelled the country on work. I can safely say I've consumed product from every brewery/brewbar apart from 2 in the country in the past 6 months. I'm a domestic brewer trying avidly to convert anyone willing to try my beer that there is more to beer than what you will find in a green bottle only.

I learnt from my visits to breweries & brewpubs in the country - from talking with the Luke Nicholas / Chris O'Leary's to the Shamrock Inn in Palmy or the boys at Miners on the West Coast - they are all extremly passionate about what they do but need all the help they can get in 'spreading the word'. I believe SOBA to be a great mechanism for this.

I am investigating establishing a business venture in the craft beer/breweries area (more to follow soon...)

Being self employed have plenty of time available, whilst 15 years employed in the corporate world also gives me a background in dealing with people, suppliers and 'the customer'. I come to SOBA from an 'ordinary Kiwi joker' perspective (and the home of the Super 14!).
